April – Upper Trap Overuse Awareness Month

Pay special attention this month to how much you are using your upper trapezius (trap) which is the muscles that help to stabilize the shoulder a majority of the time – so much of a majority that it is often overused – leading to a set of conditions called Upper Cross (or “upper crossed”) Syndrome. Correct yourself while you are running, driving, riding a bike, sitting at your desk or any other time you find that you’re squeezing your shoulders to your ears. Instead, sit/stand tall and pinch them down and back. Check out some other ideas below.
